This year however, seemed to be really dull and lifeless, on both of these roads, Bangalore's busiest shopping districts. Two factors affecting the scene seems to be massive competition from all the malls, and colder than usual weather. Yeah, Bangalore was colder than ever, with temeperature hitting a 124 year low of 14 degrees Centigrade! The bad weather was caused by a depression in the Bay Of Bengal, the same one that caused a cyclone in Bangladesh.
The family owned stores on Brigade Road and MG Road have existed for many long decades, and almost every big global brand is represented here.
I am posting a few images here, as part of the pictures of Bangalore series.
Barton Centre - 13 stories, and a landmark.
For as far as anyone can remember, they have been going to Gangarams for books and stationaries. If something is not available off-the-shelf, they also help you source it from anywhere n the world (mostly).
The Plaza Theatre is now defunct. They are already pulling don the interiors. I think the last movie I saw here was over 5 years ago... It used to be nice, with wooden floors, good screens and audio, and HUGE rats that used to run around between your feet while you are watching a movie. Scary shit!
If you want used (second hand) books, usually fiction, these people on MG road's sidewalks sell it to you for Rs20.00 (about half a US dollar).
I am seriously considering a professionally designed website with an image gallery. ProPix does do good work...
